Welcome to Little Barks

We are a 5 star licensed, home dog boarding provider based in Bedlington, Northumberland. Established in 2022, we provide a warm and relaxed environment for small dogs, in our own home. We are fully licensed by Northumberland County Council with a 5-star rating (NAL/271) and are based just 20 minutes from Newcastle Airport. 

Dog Home Boarding Exclusively for Small Dogs 

Your dog stays as part of our family, in our home. We keep numbers low so every dog receives individual attention, comfort and care throughout the day. Dogs enjoy freedom to relax on sofas, lounge in sunny spots, and explore our large, secure south-facing garden. Daily walks start straight from the front door into Bedlington Nature Reserve, 140 acres of woodland and riverside paths, giving your dog gentle exercise and stimulation every day.

• Personalised care tailored to their routine. We follow feeding and medication schedules exactly as instructed.

• Owners receive regular updates via WhatsApp, giving peace of mind while you’re away. 

New Client Process 

Your dog must be registered with us which first requires a trial night. 

Before arranging a trial night, we’ll ask you a few important questions about your dog and their routine. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions and make sure we’re the right fit for each other. 

We then arrange a trial night, which allows your dog to get to know us, our home, and our own dog in a relaxed, familiar setting. During their stay, we follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible and will send you an update so you can see how they’re settling in. Provided the trial night goes well, your dog will then be registered with us and future stays can be confirmed.

Important Requirements for Boarding 

To ensure a safe, calm, and happy environment for all our dogs, guests must meet a few important requirements. We welcome toy and small breed dogs that are well adjusted, house trained, and comfortable in a home with other small dogs. All dogs must be up to date with vaccinations, microchipped, and treated for fleas and worms. 

All dogs must be spayed or neutered.

Dogs should be able to sleep on their own bed or on a bed provided by us, and must not have separation or general anxiety or fearful / aggressive temperaments. These requirements help us keep every dog safe and relaxed, while allowing owners to enjoy peace of mind during their stay.
